We brought you the news on Wednesday that our own Robbie Keane was voted the MVP in the MLS for this season. Well, one of the players he pipped to the title has now secured the goal-of-the year crown. Obafemi Martins was a bit of a cult-hero at Newcastle and is now considered one of the top players in the MLS after bagging 17 goals this season in just 31 games. The pick of those according to the MLS judges was a neat hook-strike against the San Jose Earthquakes in a 1-0 win during the summer. It was a pretty tidy finish from the Nigerian and the award might make up to losing to the Dubliner in the MVP stakes.
