The goalkeeper was booed by fans at the San Siro during Italy's Nations League semi-final with Spain
Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was booed by sections of the Italy home crowd during their Nations League semi-final with Spain.
The talented goalkeeper left AC Milan to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer after turning down multiple contract offers before moving to France which has caused controversy amongst his former side.
Italy's game tonight (Wednesday) is being played at the San Siro and whenever Donnarumma touches the ball, there are clear sounds of discontent from large numbers of the home support.
There were also jeers from the Italian support before the game as Donnarumma warmed up in hostile conditions.
Playing in his first game at the stadium since his departure, the 22-year-old has struggled to cope and after conceding one through a well-worked goal by Spain, which was finished off by Ferran Torres, he struggled to compose himself and almost conceded a second.
Fumbling a shot from the edge of the box, the ball span into the air before defender Leonardo Bonucci spared his blushes and cleared the ball off the line.
At half-time, Italy were 2-0 down after Torres found his second right before the break but were then reduced to 10 men after Bonucci was shown a second yellow card for an elbow on Sergio Busquets.
Lorenzo Pellegrini did pull one back for the hosts, having been set up by the brilliant Federico Chiesa, but it was too little too late for them as Spain hung on to win 2-1.
