Gervinho was unfortunately burgled over the Christmas period... after posting on Twitter he was out of the country on holiday.
The Roma forward posted the picture on Christmas Eve, which shows him en route to Abidjan in his native Ivory Coast and it appears thieves took note. Gervinho's house, in Axa, a town near the Italian capital, was robbed in the past few days, with thousands of euros worth of items reportedly stolen. The theft was discovered by Gervinho's brother, who notified the police, with the former Arsenal player due back home on Tuesday to give an exact estimate of what has been taken. It is also unclear how the burglars entered the house, or whether the alarm was activated.
While our sympathy is with the player, his post was possibly not the brightest idea he's ever had. On the Gervinho gaff-scale, it's just below trying to smuggle a woman onto an private jet.
