Sky Sports departure list continues to grow as Geoff Shreeves quits

Geoff Shreeves has joined the lengthy list of veteran stars to leave Sky Sports as he officially quits following 30 years of service for the broadcaster. The famous touchline reporter joins Jeff Stelling out the exit door, while the likes of Graeme Souness and Martin Tyler announced their retirement at the end of the Premier League season. Long running shows such as Soccer AM have also been cancelled, as Sky Sports are clearly trying to revamp their employment list or attempt to cut down their payroll. Shreeves confirmed in a statement that he is the latest to leave Sky following 32 years of service since the foundation of the Premier League in 1992. "There's an old saying that you always have to know the best time to leave even the greatest party,' the 58-year-old said in his exit statement.

"And that's what my 32 years at Sky have been - the most fantastic party I could have ever imagined attending. "From the first kick of a ball in the live coverage of the Premier League to Manchester City's title celebrations last season - with plenty in between.

"I have been fortunate to work for a ground-breaking company who have helped revolutionise football. But the time is right to move on.

"Sky have been incredibly generous in recognition of my service and I can't speak more highly of so many people I've worked with there over three decades."

In a Daily Mail report however, it is said that the reporter's exit comes after he rejected the chance to continue in his old role on a reduced salary. Shreeves is potentially best known for his role in the EA Sports FIFA games, as the commentary would cut to him for a pre-recorded message, to which Tyler would respond with "Cheers Geoff.
