Gary Neville reveals more of the bizarre Class of ’92 initiations at Manchester United

The story of David Beckham getting interpersonal over a pull-out photo of former Manchester United left-back Clayton Blackmore is now part of the club's lore. The revelation came out in the 2013 documentary about the young players, including Beckham, that helped United to a treble - Class of '92. However, in an interview with Four Four Two magazine, Neville now claims that Beckham was not the youth team player cajoled into the Blackmore stunt. 'It wasn't David Beckham, it was another couple of lads,' he says. Not the complete killjoy, Neville does shed some light on the types of senior squad initiations that were doing the rounds in the early 1990s. 'Players were thrown in the tumble dryer or had their shirt number put on their back with boot polish and a wire brush before being forced into a cold bath or shower to wash it off. 'Other players had to do funny movements around the dressing room in from of the first team players, such as skateboarding [wearing just] a towel, a cone on your head and shin pads on as your arm guards.'
