Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs left a human rights activist in tears with their generosity when they told a group of squatters that they could stay in their hotel for the winter. The former Manchester United players are currently renovating the Manchester stock exchange building into a boutique hotel but, recently, homeless people and housing activists have begun occupying the premises. Rather than sending for a court order and sending them on their way, Neville and Giggs have opened their doors to the activist group called Manchester Angels and told them that they could stay over the cold winter months. https://twitter.com/lukebainbridge/status/655826246975229956 Wesley Hall, a human rights activist who is leading the protest on behalf of the homeless, told The Guardian that the gesture had him in tears after a phone call from Neville on Sunday confirmed that they could stay in the building in the medium term. That allows the Manchester Angels time to work with the homeless and it gives them a chance to celebrate Christmas in comfort.

“We are going to do everything properly,” Hall spoke with The Guardian. "We have already drawn up rotas for cooking, cleaning and staffing the gate. Everyone will be able to have their own room and each person will be able to lock their bedroom door. We were expecting that as soon as Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville found out that we had occupied the building that they would try to get us evicted and that we would have to look for another building. “I can’t quite believe it. The whole thing is a dream come true. We’ve got a real opportunity to do some intensive work with homeless people and make a big difference to their lives.”
