Gareth Southgate is in line for shock return to management.
He lead the England team for eight years, taking them to two Euro finals, in 2021 and 2024, as well as a World Cup semi-final and quarter-final.
He was linked with the Man United job when Erik ten Hag was under the cosh earlier this season, before pouring cold water on that idea.
In October, he said: "I won’t coach in the next year for sure, I’m certain of that.
"I need to give myself time to make good decisions. When you come out of a really big role you need to give your body time, you need to give your mind time.
“I’m fortunate that there are lots of different opportunities that are presenting themselves. The business side of football is really interesting."
The Evening Standard have now reported that the 54-year-old has applied for the Poland job.
Michal Probierz recently stepped down following a spat with record goal scorer, Robert Lewandowski, who refused to play for the manager after he was replaced as captain by Piotr Zielinski.
In a statement, Lewandowski said: “Taking into account the circumstances and a loss of trust in the coach, I have decided to resign from playing for the Poland national team for as long as he remains in charge."
Probierz also released a statement: “I have come to the conclusion that the best decision for the good of the national team will be my resignation from the position of coach.”
