After Ireland put seven past Gibraltar earlier in the European Championships qualifying campaign, you really feared for the tiny nation's prospects against even tougher opposition in Group D.
But that remains the novices biggest margin of defeat after goalkeeper Jordan Perez delivered the performance of his life against world champions Germany last night.
Perez, fireman by day and clearly superhuman by night, stepped up time and again to stop certain German goals, even stopping a ninth-minute penalty from Bastian Schweinsteiger as Die Mannschaft struggled to half-time just one goal to the good.

Things went south a little bit in the second half as Germany added six more goals but nobody will be pointing the finger at Perez after this performance.
