Alex Ferguson praises Invincibles as Premier League’s greatest achievement

Fergie praised Arsenal for achieving the one honour which eluded him.

Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have become the first managers to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame. The honour is a fitting tribute to the pair who claimed an astonishing 16 League titles between them over the course of their managerial careers. Ferguson: Arsenal's Invincibles stands above other Premier League achievements.

The former Man United boss winning 13 of those league titles alongside two Champions League triumphs. Ferguson, however, has admitted that it is his arch-rival's 'Invincible' season which "stands above" in terms of achievements. The 2003/04 season saw Wenger's rampaging Arsenal side go the entire league season undefeated. It remains to this day the sole occasion that a side has managed to claim the mantle of 'invincible'. Winning 26 games and drawing 12, the north London club finished 15 points clear of Ferguson's Man United side that season. The United manager was in charge when Arsenal suffered defeat in the league after 49 games in October 2004. "I won thirteen leagues, but I was never near going through a season undefeated", the Scotsman said. The pair often had a combustible relationship on the sidelines during their multiple shared title races. However, a softening of sorts has occurred between the managerial duo since their retirements.
