Fans and former players have been left in fury as a 'huge VAR error' in the Manchester United v Liverpool game has been 'completely missed by officials'.
Liverpool comfortably beat the Red Devils 3-0 at Old Trafford in Arne Slot's first competitive big-rival clash.
A Luis Diaz brace commanded a healthy half-time lead, before Mohamed Salah sealed the deal in front of the rapturous away support.
The visitors could have had many more goals and fans believe on another day that they should have been awarded a penalty.
During the second-half of the match, United defender Noussair Mazraoui appeared to catch the back of Cody Gakpo's leg.
Referee Anthony Taylor then played advantage, which resulted in Darwin Nunez shooting wide.
The incident was then not reviewed by video assistant referee John Brooks and assistant VAR Harry Lennard, a decision which former Liverpool player Neil Mellor found very confusing.
"Referee sees foul on Gakpo and indicates advantage… Nunez shoots wide," Mellor wrote on X.
"Contact was inside the area… so why hasn’t VAR told him he was right and contact in area so should be a pen?
"Baffling decision."
