One of our footballing heroes has found himself in some serious bother. The great Fabio Cannavaro, who led Italy so magnificently to World Cup glory in 2006, has been handed a 10-month prison sentence in Italy.
Cannavaro, along with fellow footballer and brother Paolo Cannavaro (six months), and Fabio's wife Daniela Arenosa (four months), were handed the custodial terms after they were found to have breached an order to stay out of a villa in Posillipo. The house had been seized and sealed by police investigating an abuse of the planning system.
As the three involved appealed, they have had the sentences suspended until they return to court.
Cannavaro is currently the manager of Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande.
