The FA are interested in appointing Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou as the next England manager, a fresh report from the Telegraph has revealed.
He is expected to be on the list of potential candidates considered and has been tracked by the Football Association "for years".
Technical director John McDermott is currently compiling a shortlist, with an interim likely to take charge for the Nations League matches versus Republic of Ireland and Finland.
As reported earlier, U21 manager Lee Carsley is the most likely candidate to become the interim manager.
It is well documented that the FA wanted Gareth Southgate to continue his tenure as manager, however with his choice to resign it leaves them with no option but to look for a successor.
Other potential successors include Eddie Howe, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino, with Jurgen Klopp already ruling himself out of the running.
Newcastle United will certainly put up a fight to keep Howe, however ultimately the decision is up to him.
Pochettino, on the other hand has privately expressed his interest in the role and would be free to take the role after leaving Chelsea earlier this summer.
