Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini was not particularly kind to Evan Ferguson in his post-match comments, following his side's 2-1 loss to Juventus.
Ferguson had to settle for a substitute appearance despite starting in the win over Como and scoring two goals in Roma's 3-0 Europa League victory over Celtic.
“Whoever started the game is who I think is doing best. It’s clear that Roma is currently trying to improve and strengthen themselves in that area of the pitch.”
However, pundit Fabio Capello stuck up for the Irishman, saying: “Against Como, Ferguson had a very good match. I don’t understand why he wasn’t used from the start this time.”
Capello is a man to take seriously given his success as manager of AC Milan, Real Madrid, Roma and Juventus.
After struggling with his new Italian side, Ferguson's brace against the Bhoys put him near the top of Roma's top scorers this season.

After the loss, Gasperini said: "Ferguson hasn't convinced me yet,” he said. Even in the second half, for a long time. He hasn't fully entered the rhythm of the game, like some others. But we have a very solid team. Dybala and Soulé served very well and have superior technical quality. I would make the same choice again.”
