Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is tipped to replace Nuri Sahin as manager of Borussia Dortmund should they lose against Bologna in the Champions League tomorrow.
The Dutchman left Old Trafford in October after he oversaw the club's worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign.
He led his team to League Cup victory and FA Cup glory in his first two seasons but Ten Hag came under consistent fire about his side's unconvincing league performances.
As Dortmund's Sahin comes under pressure in what is being touted as a crunch week for the manager, Sky Sports Germany claim Ten Hag is favourite to fill his shoes should the club decide to part ways.
Speculation began to grow after the 54-year-old was spotted in Dortmund last month. Furthermore, the club would not have to negotiate with another club and he would be able to get to work with the squad straight away.
Dortmund are currently 10th in the Bundesliga following their 2-0 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night.
The success of their season now rests solely on their Champions League campaign but they are facing a battle to qualify for the knockout stages.
Dortmund are currently sitting ninth in the 32-team standings but a loss to Bologna will see them slide down the standings putting pressure on them to get a result the following week against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Former Turkish international Sahin made 135 appearances for the club as a player and returned to manage the club in summer following the departure of Edin Terzic.
Sebastian Hoeness has also been linked with the job at Dortmund but the Stuttgart boss is said to have a release clause in the region of £6.8m.
