It was meant as a compliment, no doubt, but came out all wrong.

England finished third at the Women's World Cup, in Canada, on Sunday and returned home, today, as heroes. The team, nicknamed The Lionesses, were unfortunate to lose their semi-final clash before claiming victory in the third/fourth place playoff. The English FA sought to highlight their achievements but fudged their words somewhat. The result was a condescending tweet that suggested the players were re-take their place in society as mothers, partners and daughters as that is how they are usually defined. One finds it hard to imagine a similar tweet going out about the men's senior team. https://twitter.com/skysarahjane/status/618049556161392640 https://twitter.com/Glinner/status/618040452793679872 The tweet was deleted soon after.
