Defeat often brings three stages of grief: sadness, anger, despair.
England's defeat on Sunday was first met with sadness. Naturally, supporters were gutted to come so close only to fall at the final hurdle.
But now the dust has settled and it's been two days since Spain were crowned Euro 2024 champions, that feeling of sadness has slowly grown into the second stage: anger.
Whether that be critiquing a certain player's performance or Gareth Southgate's tactics, fans are finding any way possible to vent their frustrations.
The latest in this escapade has come after somebody calculated how long the ball was in play for during stoppage time.
By this point England were losing 2-1 but when the fourth official added on a minimum of four minutes injury time, there was hope the Three Lions could find an equaliser.
However one fan did the maths and discovered that the ball was in play for a total time of one minute and that as a result, more time should've been added on.
His discovery caused a meltdown on social media as England supporters felt even more aggrieved.
"Should've been 6-7 mins added time tbh, weird how they got 4mins after all them subs and 3 goals...." claimed one fan.
"I mean I wanted Spain to win. But the fact he blew the whistle that early was odd. He even blew the whistle before added time was up in the end of the first half," added another.
This user commented: "Me and my dad were thinking there should've been an extra three minutes added."
Not everyone was as sympathetic however, with opposition supporters finding the humorous side of it.
One person said: "They had 90 minutes to score a goal.
"England fans are just desperate at this point," exclaimed a second.
Another person said: English tears. Delicious!"
