Poor Emre Can.
We can only imagine that being given the chance to start for Germany against England last night was a big moment for the young midfielder.
Winning just his fourth cap, Can would have hoped to impress manager Joachim Low to press his case for inclusion in Germany's Euro 2016, and no doubt enjoyed the prospect of facing Liverpool team-mates Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana, and Jordan Henderson.
We can only imagine the colour draining from his face when Low informed him he would be lining up at right-back, scene of his lowest moment in a Liverpool jersey.
Can was increasingly used as a utility man by former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, and his form suffered towards the end of the last season, culminating in a torrid display against Stoke in the final game of the campaign.
Liverpool were trounced 6-1 at the Britannia, with Can pulled from the team at half-time following a horrendous 45 minutes on the right side of defence.
The big German fared little better last night, receiving the lowest mark of five in player ratings handed out by newspaper Bild.
Can will surely be hoping to hurry back to Melwood, where Klopp has at least recognised the 22-year-old is no full-back.
