The Sunderland manager is trying his very best to keep the Black Cats in the Premier League, but he is not being helped by events conspiring against him.
Firstly Adam Johnson was sent to prison for six years, following his conviction for sexual activity with a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
And if that scandal and fall-out was not bad enough publicity for the club, this afternoon one of their brand spanking new signings, Emmanuel Eboue, has been banned by Fifa for a year unless he pays his agent money owed to him.
Eboue it is understood owes a huge amount of money to his ex-agent Sebastien Boisseau and the ban will be lifted if he pays the sum owed within 12 months.
Sunderland have subsequently cancelled the Ivorian's contract.
The news comes after an appeal to the CAS against the initial ruling by Fifa in favour of the agent was denied.
Fifa confirmed the sanction this morning which means, unless the ex-Arsenal man and perma-injured player coughs up the money owed, he'll be once again on the sidelines watching football while he cannot take part.
