Eamon Dunphy was in stitches at an Andy Reid comment on Robbie Savage’s punditry

From the moment Robbie Savage took aim at Eamon Dunphy's punditry in the aftermath of Ireland's loss to Serbia on Tuesday night, he was fighting a losing battle against the Irish public. Savage wasn't too impressed with Dunphy's undermining of the Welsh challenge that Ireland will face in an upcoming World Cup qualification group game, and also at the RTÉ pundit's adoring of Wes Hoolahan. https://twitter.com/RobbieSavage8/status/905172071218544640 The Welsh man was talking to SportsJOE at an Éir sponsorship launch on Wednesday, when he revealed his disbelief at Dunphy's comments.

"There was a gentleman on the TV, speaking, but no caption came up, so I wanted to know who it was," claimed Savage. "I just put a tweet out to find out who he was, and I believed, listening to him that he was talking nonsense, and I'm known for that myself, so i thought, maybe he's on par with me.

"I think that when you're a pundit, you have to have an opinion but I think you've to back your opinions up. Listening last night, on his thoughts on Wes Hoolahan, I thought, if Ireland are relying on a 35-year-old, who can't get in Norwich's side, I thought, that can't be right," he added.

Dunphy appeared on SportsJOE Live on Wednesday night, and claimed to host Colm Parkinson that Savage's comments were a publicity stunt.

"What was he doing? Was he promoting Éir was he, was he looking for publicity? How do you get publicity, you have a go at Eamon, well done Robbie."

Parkinson then quizzed the Dubliner on his thoughts on Savage's punditry skills, but Andy Reid jumped in to answer the question, before Dunphy could even get the chance to.

"I think I would probably put him in the same category as a pundit as he was as a player," said the 35-year-old.

Reid claimed that his comment came out the wrong way, but Dunphy's priceless reaction already had the crowd going, and there was no way back for Andy Reid. Just look at that face. Baby.
