Dundalk goalkeeper Gary Rogers called into Republic of Ireland squad

Gary Rogers has been called into the Republic of Ireland squad for the country's upcoming clashes against Oman and Serbia. The Irish get their World Cup qualification campaign up and running on Monday with a trip to Belgrade but will host Oman first in a friendly at the Aviva, a game which will be Robbie Keane's last for his country. Martin O'Neill named a 28-man squad this week but David Forde will now stay with Portsmouth rather than link up on international duty. The Galway stopper is on loan at Pompey from Millwall and has played every game in League Two so far. It's thought that the idea of allowing him to return to his club is to ensure he maintains his starting place, with Portsmouth playing two league games - one on Tuesday night and one on Saturday - in the time of the international break.
