David Moyes speaks openly about his interest in two Manchester United players

David Moyes met the media for the first time in his new role on Monday,

The Sunderland manager has just two weeks to sign players before the season starts. The club narrowly avoided relegation last season, and will need reinforcements if they're to avoid the drop this year. Inevitably, Moyes was asked about his potential interest in taking Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj to Sunderland, and the Scot didn't play down the fact he would be keen to work with the United pair next season. "If any of those good players want to join me I'd be happy to have them," Moyes said at his first press conference as Sunderland manager.

"They're excellent players. We're interested but I’m sure there’s a load of other clubs that are as well. We're interested in lots of good players. You have to have a realistic view. There'll be some players we can attract just now and some players we can't."

Januzaj is reportedly one of the players Jose Mourinho has told will not be part of his plans next season. The 21-year-old winger impressed in Moyes' sole season as United manager, but his progression has since stalled. While Fellaini has been bought twice by Moyes, and revealed that he cried when the Scot was sacked as United manager in April 2014. A move for both players could make perfect sense for everyone concerned. Sunderland need players, United want to cast-off those on the fringes of their squad and Moyes will want players he can trust to join him at the Stadium of Light.
