It's been just over two weeks since David Moyes handed in his letter of resignation at the Stadium of Light.
After failing to save them from the drop, Moyes parted ways with Sunderland but he could be back in a job sooner than expected.
The Times report that the former Everton and Manchester United boss is top of the Scottish FA's wish list if they relieve Gordon Strachan of his duties, a scenario which is looking increasingly likely.
A defeat to England in Saturday's World Cup Qualifier at Hampden Park would deal Scotland's chances of a place in next year's tournament in Russia a significant hammer blow.

Scotland's patience with Strachan is reportedly wearing thin, with two defeats and a draw from their opening five qualifying games.
And with pressure mounting on the 60-year-old, who has been in charge of the national side since 2013, Moyes is the preferred candidate to take over.
“It’s always something which I would definitely keep open," Moyes said in October of the chance to manage Scotland.
It's understood that the 54-year-old does not want to take an extended break from football after his nightmare season with the Black Cats.
