David Moyes primed for Premier League return

The "Chosen one" is reportedly on his way back to the Premier League.

David Moyes is being lined up to replace Steve McClaren as Newcastle United manager, according to the Daily Telegraph. The Magpies' boss is under intense pressure as the club lost 3-1 at home to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, and dropped to 19th in the table. Despite being backed significantly in the transfer market, McClaren has been, so far, unable to coax the required performances from his team. Some of the St James' Park fans seemed to have turned against him and the former England boss was also involved in a heated exchange with a journalist on Friday, after accusing him of having an "agenda" against the club. It appears the club's controversial owner is ready to end McClaren's misery, and put his trust in one man to keep them in the Premier League: David Moyes.According to the Telegraph:

"Mike Ashley is ready to intervene and will urge managing director Lee Charnley to sack the head coach this weekend after a terrible eight-month reign."

Moyes, who was sacked as Real Sociedad manager last November, is reportedly interested in the job, but there are still some issues to iron out.

"There are potential stumbling blocks to remove in negotiations, but the job does appeal to the former Manchester United manager. "Moyes knows he would be taking a risk accepting the Newcastle job given their troubles under Ashley and he would will want reassurances about player recruitment."
