Daryl Horgan scored twice on Saturday afternoon to win the Edinburgh derby for Hibernian against Hearts at Tynecastle. The former Dundalk winger helped his side come from behind to win the Scottish Premiership fixture and leapfrog their city rivals into fifth-place in the league.
Hearts opened the scoring through Peter Haring after 25 minutes. However, they didn't have the lead for long.
Two minutes later, after some good work by Marc McNulty down the left wing, Horgan arrived late into the box to sweep the ball beyond Hearts goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal and into the bottom corner.
Horgan got his second goal just after half-time, scoring a stunning strike after some impressive build-up play by Hibs.
The former Preston North End winger started the move, drifting in off the wing to play a sharp pass into Florian Kamberi, who laid the ball off to Stevie Mallan, who in turn passed it back to Horgan.
The Galway-native continued his run and smashed the ball into the net from 20 yards out, sparking wild celebrations from the Hibs fans behind the goal. They held on to win their first game away to Hearts since 2013.
Horgan joined Hibs from Preston last summer on a three-year deal.
He was named in Mick McCarthy's provisional squad for the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2020 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia last month but was not included in the final 23-man selection.
However, his display on Saturday will surely give him a chance of adding to the six Ireland caps he has already won.
