“I’m disappointed with him” – Former United stars begin to turn on Cristiano Ronaldo

After Cristiano Ronaldo's latest petulant tantrum, even former Manchester United stars are beginning to turn on the Portugal captain, admitting that they are "disappointed" with him. It's normally the heroes of Old Trafford's past who jump to the defence of the footballing legend, but following his earlier charge down the tunnel before the game even finished against Tottenham this week; it seems to have been the last straw for some. Peter Schmeichel, arguably the best goalkeeper that United has ever had, told BBC 5 Live that Ronaldo's actions are becoming a "distraction."

"It's the first time I can say that I am disappointed with him. Normally I back him, I understand his situation.

"But we are in transition. Manchester United are now five managers down the road since Alex Ferguson. We have got Erik ten Hag in now who has very clear ideas about the way he wants to play football. "We need understanding and time from everyone. We don’t need distractions like that, and that’s a disappointment I would say." Another former player and ex-teammate of Ronaldo's, is Gary Neville. The Sky Sports pundit has continuously defended his friend in the media since Ronaldo returned to the club. However, even Neville couldn't agree with the actions that he saw following his club's 2-0 win over Spurs. "If he's fit, you start him, and I hope he stays. I'm a little bit disappointed in him," Neville told Sky Sports.

"I'm disappointed, to be fair he's letting the manager go into those press conferences, Cristiano now is a good age, he's been the greatest player in the world alongside [Lionel] Messi for the last 10 years.

"He's got all the experience in the world, would it be too much to ask him to do an interview to clear things up and [hear] what he's thinking?" Related links:
