After six Premier League defeats in seven and a 4-1 Champions League loss to PSV at Anfield, Arne Slot's position as Liverpool manager is beginning to look borderline untenable, with the odds at the bookies reflecting this situation.
This situation would have seemed impossible just a couple of months ago, with Slot leading Liverpool to the Premier League title last season in their first year after Jurgen Klopp.
But a torrid run of form, paired with his summer signings not hitting the height expected, means Slot is now just second favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked.
And of the names being touted to replace him, a famous Klopp return seems to be the favourite scenario among Reds fans.
In terms of the next manager sacked market, Daniel Farke is far-and-away favourite, with Leeds suffering five defeats in six.
But Slot is next in line, and the majority of betting over the last 24 hours up to Thursday morning was with the Dutchman to be next to go.
Slot received 73% of the betting, followed by Daniel Farke on 15%, Everton boss Sean Dyche on 15%, and Spurs manager Thomas Frank on 4%.
In terms of next Liverpool manager, based on Monday's numbers, a whopping 52% of the betting has gone on Jurgen Klopp, with Steven Gerrard the next most-popular, receiving 7%.
Speaking on his podcast, Gary Neville had a damning assessment of Liverpool's recent form.
"What is unusual is the severity and immediacy of the drop, and the worrying signs that are appearing. A blip is losing one or two games, when you start losing three and four you have to do something.
"You can't lose six games in seven if you are Liverpool Football Club. It's unacceptable. The manager has to change the style or the system and help them. It means being more solid, personnel changes. [Milos] Kerkez is struggling, [Ibrahima] Konate is struggling.
"I called on it a few weeks ago, I said maybe Joe Gomez should play right-back, Andy Robertson at left-back and play as a narrow back four. Be a bit more pragmatic. Something has to change in the collective.
"From an individual perspective you have to strip it right back to the foundations, whether that's sleep, stretching, eating, the tiny details. Do everything better."
