Chris Hughton’s admits he’s a big fan of Richie Towell

Where will Richie go.

Most SSE Airtricity league fans have accepted that Richie Towell will be leaving these shores in the coming weeks to move to England. The former Celtic man is almost certain to leave Dundalk for  a move abroad in January, but already possible moves to Turkey and Poland have been turned down. It was expected that Towell would try his luck with a League One or a League Two side, but in the last 24 hours Championship high-flyers Brighton have emerged as the front runners for his signature. However, their manager Chris Hughton, speaking on tonight's Off the Ball show on Newstalk, played it very very cool when he was asked if Towell would be signing for the Seasiders in January.

"Richie is a player that we're certainly aware of and I would be because of where he's played. He's had a wonderful season. He's one that yes of course, we are aware of but we're conscious that lots of other clubs are also aware of him. He's had a good season and I'm delighted for him because it's a good league that he's done it in. But he is a player that, yes, we are aware of."

So, what can we take from that? That he knows about Richie Towell, and that he's  interested. Interesting.
