Chris Forrester’s latest piece of good news is a massive boost for his Ireland hopes

Chris Forrester's excellent start to life in England shows no signs of abating. The former St Patrick's Athletic midfielder has been named Peterborough United's captain for the 2015/16 season. https://twitter.com/theposhofficial/status/747897366875901952 Peterborough boss Grant McCann says Forrester was chosen for the role due to his fine temperament and character. McCann praised the 23-year-old for the impact he made on the League One club despite arriving after a full League of Ireland campaign. With a proper rest and pre-season behind him, McCann has high hopes for Forrester. While the Dubliner may not be the most vocal of players at Peterborough, McCann believes he will inspire those around him with his work ethic and on-field deeds. The new Peterborough captain was delighted with the honour. He commented:

"I had a chat with the gaffer and he is confident in me, I am really looking forward to it, it is a new challenge for me and one that I am relishing. I joined last year and had a decent season and I want to build on that. "I try and let my football do the talking and how they see me, hopefully I can lead by example and try and add some things into my game and improve my communication skills. It is a challenge, but one that I am really looking forward to."

Forrester has two Ireland U21 caps and, in March, was called into the senior squad for the friendly matches with Slovakia and Switzerland. Ireland boss Martin O'Neill has spoken highly of Forrester's talent and potential. He will be watching closely to see how the young midfielder handles his most important assignment to date.
