Brentford fans chant ‘you let your country down’ at Harry Kane

Kane did manage to get on the scoresheet though

Brentford fans chanted “you let your country down” at Tottenham striker and England captain Harry Kane on his return to Premier League action. The 29-year-old striker started to club football in the starting lineup for Spurs as they resumed their 2022-23 campaign following a six-week break for the World Cup. Antonio Conte's team were playing Brentford away and the game was the first time that Kane had played competitively since missing a late penalty in England’s 2-1 World Cup quarter-final defeat against France. Despite having previously hinted that he may rest all of his World Cup players, Spurs manager Conte decided to give Kane the earliest opportunity to get back into action by naming him in the starting lineup. Brentford had looked like they were on their way to three points when Ivan Toney put his team 2-0 up in the 54th minute.
