Brendan Rodgers to reunite with former player for second Celtic signing

Brendan Rodgers never wanted to let him go but the money was too good to turn down.

The Northern Irishman was Swansea boss in 2012 when Manchester City paid £8m for Scott Sinclair's services. The winger was set to appear for 'Team GB' at London 2012 and had enjoyed two good seasons with the Swans but they City got what they wanted. A was a record sale for the club until they parted ways - to City again - with Wilfried Bony. Rodgers would leave the club soon after, getting unveiled as Liverpool boss ahead of a rollercoaster ride. Sinclair barely got a look-in at City, under Roberto Mancini, and spent 18 months on loan at West Brom and Aston Villa. Having played well for Villa in the first half of a difficult season, the club signed him for £2.5m. After inking a four-year deal, Sinclair declared he was the 'happiest I have been in a long time'. Six months on and he could be heading north of the England-Scotland border. The Daily Mail is reporting that Rodgers is eager to get Sinclair up to Parkhead and believes he could get the midfielder for a little over £3m. An initial enquiry was made by the Scots, last week, but a proposed fee of £2m was dismissed out of hand. Villa are said to want £6m but that will never happen. If Sinclair does shift up north, the final figure will be somewhere in the middle. Rodgers has also been linked with a swoop for Blackburn and Ireland defender Shane Duffy.
