Brazil to wear white jersey in Copa America for first time since 1950

Brazil binned the white and blue colour scheme in 1950.

The yellow and green jersey has become an iconic footballing symbol. While Brazil have not won a World Cup since 2002, they are still the nation most associated with the joy of football. The country where football matters more than anything. And the yellow and green shirt has become synonymous with those traits. But this year, Brazil will swap yellow and green for white and blue. It will be the first time since 1950 that the Seleçao have worn white and blue, having ditched the colour after a crushing defeat to Uruguay at the Maracanã.  The country was so wounded by the defeat in that they took the decision to stop wearing the colours and adopt the colours of their flag: yellow and green with blue shorts. But after 79 years, they appear to have gotten over that 2-1 defeat, and are switching back to their original white and blue colours for this summer's Copa America. Will it help Neymar win a trophy? No. Does it look very nice? Yes, yes it does.
