"Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller will no longer be in the squad of the national team," Low told Bild.
"I thank Mats, Jerome and Thomas for the many successful, extraordinary and unique years we shared but in the national team, it is now all about laying the foundations for the future. We want to give the team a new face. I am convinced that this is the right step."Germany experienced a disastrous 2018. They were knocked out of the World Cup in the group stages, suffering defeats to Mexico and South Korea as they failed at the first hurdle trying to defend the trophy they won in 2014. Muller, Hummels and Boateng were all in the World Cup squad, Boateng was sent-off against Sweden, and all three were part of Germany's equally disappointing Europa Nations League campaign.
Germany were relegated from their mini-group containing France and the Netherlands and ended 2018 with six defeats.
It appears that disastrous calendar year has put an end to the international careers of the Bayern Munich trio.
"2019 is the year of the new start for the German national team," Low said.
"The young national players will have the space they need to fully develop, and now they have to take responsibility."Boateng (30) won 76 caps for Germany and scored once for the team. Hummels (30) played 70 times for the national team, scoring five goals, including the winning goal against France in the 2014 World Cup quarter-finals. Muller scored 38 times in 100 games for Germany.
