Lorraine presenter Ranvir Singh has apologised for saying that England women's forward Beth Mead "looked knackered" during an interview. Mead appeared on the programme on Tuesday morning to discuss her side's historic Euro 2022 victory. Singh, who stepped in for usual host Lorraine Kelly, started off the interview by saying:

"How are you? I mean you look a bit knackered to be fair... "

Ranvir Singh apologies for 'slip of the tongue'

Singh was branded as "patronising" and "rude" by viewers but the presenter apologised live on air on Wednesday morning, saying it was a "slip of the tongue."

"We had Beth Mead on the show yesterday, who by the way, looked fantastic, felt knackered just to clear that up. It was a slip of the tongue on my part, I apologise."

The incident followed after Richard Madeley was criticised for his sexist remarks towards England's winning goalscorer, Chloe Kelly, on the same day.
