Belgium national team cancel training session following Brussels terror attacks

Belgium have called off their training session following terror attacks in Brussels which left at least 23 dead and more than 50 injured.

The squad were set to train ahead of their friendly against Portugal for next week. The fixture is set to take place at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on March 29, but there are doubts over whether the match will happen following the attacks.

Blasts hit the American Airlines check-in desk at Brussels Airport on Tuesday morning which was soon followed by another explosion at a Metro station in the city centre.

The attack comes only days after the arrest of Salah Abdeslam, the prime suspect in the Paris massacre last November in which 130 people were killed in the French capital.

Belgium international defender Jan Vertonghen revealed his disbelief at the devastating situation in Brussels on Twitter.
