Remi Garde and Aston Villa have parted company.

The former Arsenal midfielder was only appointed Villa manager last November, but failed to guide the club away from the relegation zone and they now look nailed on to be playing in the Championship next season. Garde only won three of his 23 games in charge, suffering 13 losses and the side are currently 12 points from safety with just seven Premier League games remaining. https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/714910638045339648 Villa released a short statement on Tuesday night:
"Manager, Rémi Garde, has today left Aston Villa Football Club by mutual consent. The Club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Rémi for all his efforts during a difficult period and wish him well in the future. Eric Black will take over as acting manager until the Club appoints a new manager. There will be no further comment from the Club at this stage."
