Aston Villa to end Yannick Bolasie’s loan and send him back to Everton

He will return to Everton.

Aston Villa are cutting Yannick Bolasie's loan spell at the club short, sending back to his parent club, Everton. The former Crystal Palace winger came to an agreement with Villa manager Dean Smith to end his loan, after he had struggled for game time in recent weeks. Put simply, Villa can't afford to pay a substitute his entire wage of £70,000 a week. Villa also see no possibility of the 29-year-old being signed permanently in the summer, so have decided to prematurely end the loan deal. Having signed for Everton from Palace for a fee in the region of £30m back in 2016, it is likely that the DR Congo international will be loaned out again for the remainder of the season. Bolasie got off to a good start at Everton, but a devastating knee injury stalled his development and saw him fall way down the pecking order at Goodison Park. It would be extremely difficult for the winger to battle his way back into the Everton starting XI ahead of the likes of Richarlison, Bernard, Theo Walcott and Ademola Lookman. Villa, meanwhile, will look to reinvest the money they will save on new recruits in a bid to climb up the table and reach the play-off places.
