It's official: Olivier Giroud's scorpion kick against Crystal Palace wasn't the best Premier League goal in January.

In fact, it wasn't even the best Premier League goal scored against Crystal Palace in January. That honour goes to Andy Carroll, who won the Premier League Goal of the Month award for his bicycle kick in West Ham United's 3-0 victory over Sam Allardyce's team. https://twitter.com/carling/status/830000895450611712 Now, Arsenal fans are a reasonable bunch, and we're sure they can appreciate that such an award isn't the be all and end all. After all, it's not like some of them were arguing that Giroud's goal, scored in January, deserved the December award. No, there was none of that. https://twitter.com/NeillCobain/status/815855316000718848 In fact, even before Carroll won his award, plenty of people had convinced themselves that the England international would win, and wind up plenty of Arsenal fans in the process. https://twitter.com/thebigdod/status/820360289325613056 https://twitter.com/TheUnitedWay78/status/820411121651818496 Anyway, Carroll's goal has its own mural outside the London Stadium. If Arsenal really believed Giroud's was the better of the two then they'd have surely copied the not-at-all-cringeworthy display. And we're pretty sure the scorpion kick didn't convince the club to cancel their internal Goal of the Month vote in its honour. https://twitter.com/JohnBrewinESPN/status/830005390301622272 That measured response from Arsenal fans that we were talking about? Well we're sure you'll be able to find it somewhere, but not here. https://twitter.com/TacticalGiroud/status/830016760128618496 https://twitter.com/OzilForDays/status/830020197796966401 https://twitter.com/KARLITO_NK/status/830022487136149504 In fairness, it wasn't exclusively Arsenal fans. https://twitter.com/EMcLean1982/status/830017830439501824 And there was a new conspiracy theory at play after the award was announced. https://twitter.com/GoonerMaaz/status/830007104660463617 https://twitter.com/Ifreke/status/830016535456575488 https://twitter.com/HorsemanZiik/status/830003636143083520 https://twitter.com/bryoshavin/status/830007326375608320 https://twitter.com/tickerscricket/status/830005021576196097 They're really not a happy bunch.
