Hibernian have terminated Anthony Stokes' contract with the club.
The 29-year-old Dublin native was on a contract with Hibs that was due to run until the summer of 2019, but he has been released before the contract would run its course.
This is the second time in the last six months Stokes has has been released by clubs. The former Arsenal, Sunderland and Celtic striker was on the look-out for a new club last year when Blackburn called time on his stay at Ewood Park.
Hibernian manager Neil Lennon has always been a fan of Stokes, and brought him to the Easter Road club for his third time last year.

Lennon's faith in the forward was initially repaid, with the attacker scoring 7 times in his 18 appearances, however his old disciplinary issues soon came back to haunt him.
In November, he was dropped after a training ground altercation. This time around, it has been reported by Sky that he had broken curfew during their winter training programme and he has not played for the club since.
He will now be up for grabs as a free agent for any clubs willing to take a chance on him, and can sign for any club after the deadline.
