Herrera has been exceptional this season which culminated in him receiving the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year at the club’s end-of-season awards ceremony.
After joining for £29m from Athletic Bilbao in 2014, the Spanish midfielder has become a firm favourite with the fans due to the fact that he's equally adept at passing the ball and getting stuck into a few heavy tackles.
We've no doubt that United fans will love him even more after reading these latest comments that were reported by The Independent.
"I'm very thankful with Man United because they came to Spain to sign me three years ago. So the only thing I have in my mind every time I am on the pitch is I want to give all of the affection back and I think that's the right way."
He adds: “I just try to go to the pitch and finish the game and I cannot complain to myself, I can say I have given everything. I don't want to stop, I am very optimistic and a hard-working player and I want to keep playing, to keep working hard, to keep improving, not just personally but with the club, but with the team."
During his time in Manchester, Herrera has won the FA Cup, Europa League and League Cup, but it's clear that he fancies staying in Manchester as he aims to add to this list.
"I want to keep winning things, I am happy with my development, I am happy with my time at the club so far but I am not going to stop here, I want to keep playing, keep improving and making our fans proud."
Mmm, we wonder who the next Manchester United captain could be? If Mourinho does opt for the Spaniard, we reckon no United fans would disagree.Ireland warned of huge punishment for wider sport if Israel game had been boycotted
