Ireland winger Alan Judge scores in his first game of football in nearly 20 months

He's back.

Brentford and Ireland midfielder Alan Judge scored in his first game of football in nearly 20 months after suffering a horrific leg break for Brentford against Ipswich last season. https://twitter.com/BrentfordFC/status/938073050750377984   The 29-year-old scored the opening goal in the Brentford 'B's' 3-2 win over the Barnet U23's 605 days after fracturing both of the bones in his lower right leg following a horror tackle from Ipswich midfielder Luke Hyam. Judge will be hoping to re-establish himself with the Brentford first team and get back into the reckoning with Ireland should he be able to rediscover his form from the 2015/16 season, where he scored 14 goals from midfield for the Bees. Judge told The Sun  in August that Ireland manager Martin O'Neill and assistant Roy Keane have kept in regular contact with him and that it's comforting to know that the management team will be watching him as he makes his recovery from an extended spell on the sidelines.

“I speak to them every few months. I’ve spoken to Roy, the doc and Martin O’Neill. They keep in touch and ask how I am. “It’s nice, especially when it’s out of the blue that they call. It’s nice to know that I’m in their thoughts. I know I’ll need to play well but they’ll be watching.”
