On Sunday, Raheem Sterling was pushed in the back by a Tottenham defender Kyle Walker and, just about keeping his feet, carried on to have a shot on goal. He took some flak for it.
This is Sterling - the man accused of being a serial diver.
You can't please everyone and, sometimes, you can't please anyone.
For such a genial chap and a handy footballer, Hoolahan is a divisive character. Some feel Ireland need a ball-player in midfield and one that will take risks, even if it means losing possession every now and then. Others believe he is a luxury we can do without.
And then there are the accusations of diving. The Dubliner takes a fair bit of physical flak in the Championship and has been known to let the officials know about it.
On Saturday, Hoolahan went down too easily but he will argue, as he did when surrounded by irate Wolves players, that there had been contact.
Wolves lost the game and all day Saturday and Sunday, Hoolahan was the bad guy. It is u fortunate but it happens.
Sadly though, abuse of the midfielder has rolled into Monday and Tuesday. Some of it is base, to say the least.
