Late, late, drama for Liverpool, Gerrard slips (twice), and the most un-Arsenal of Arsenal goals wins it

The centre half is owed a pint or two on Merseyside. Head strapped up, blood stopped dripping, Skrtel produced an outstanding finish for a 97th minute equaliser for 10-man Liverpool. Fabio Borini was sent off late on for the home side as 'Pool and Arsenal played out a 2-2 draw in the late Sunday kick off. But Brendan Rodgers couldn't even enjoy himself for a minute in the first half.  The Liverpool boss sat relaxed for barely 60 seconds after Coutinho fired his side into a deserved lead on the 44th minute before the Gunners struck back with the ugliest of goals just before half time. Markovic had two big chances for the hosts but wasted his best when the left leg of Szczesny turned him away from close range. And, before the mayhem started at the end of the half, Gerrard has his own moment of horror when, of course, his innocuous, uneventful stumble in the middle of the pitch threatened to break the internet because Gerrard slipped again. Then, Coutinho had Anfield rocking with this absolutely cracking finish. Before Liverpool let it slip (sorry) by conceding an horrendous equaliser put away by right back Debuchy. Arsenal doing their best Stoke impression with this one. But Wayne Rooney could tell you everything you need to know about the first half  much better than a highlights reel could.

And, even though we were constantly reminded of how well Liverpool were playing, Arsenal took the lead in the second period through Giroud who started and finished off a delicate one-two. But Liverpool were hammering down the door, Lucas going closest with an effort curling just past the left post. Their second half was going something like this. Then... Gerrard slipped again. And Rodgers almost rued bringing on Fabio Borini who was no sooner walking back off after two silly yellow cards. Perhaps the Liverpool manager was right when he decided never to play a striker. The Italian seemed to have something to say to his boss as he ran down the tunnel. But the best was yet to come as big Martin Skrtel rescued a point for his side with this brilliant header in the 97th minute.
