Prepare yourselves Irish rugby fans, your least favourite referee has just come out with an unbelievable quote.
It would be an understatement to say that Wayne Barnes isn’t well liked among Irish fans of the oval balled game.
He infamously yellow-carded Stephen Ferris and awarded Wales a last-minute penalty as Ireland’s lost 23-21 in 2012. More recently, in the 2015 Six Nations he penalised Ireland for breakdown infringements in the defeat to Wales, only to let Wales’ countless infractions in the second-half go unpunished.
Some have gone as far to say that his tendency to give decisions against Ireland is a sign of bias. Well, it’s going to be difficult for the English ref to argue that he is an objective official after this quote.
