WATCH: Rugby player hit with huge ban for calling Romain Poite a sh*t

Loose lips sink ships.

And looser lips tend to get you sent off as Oyonnax’s Silveré Tian found out earlier this month, when he got mouthy with Romain Poite.

The French referee would not exactly be flavour of the month among Irish fan for various reasons, and we’d wager that several Munster and Leinster fans would love to have said what the Ivorian had the courage to in the Top 14 clash against Bernard Jackman’s Grenoble

Poite handed Tian a yellow card initially for coming in at the side of a ruck illegally and was surely expecting the player just to toddle off to the sideline to sit out the final ten minutes in the sin-bin.

However, the full-back had other ideas and lost his cool, telling Poite in no uncertain terms he was ‘shit’ forcing the referee to pull out his red card in the 70th minute.

Silvere Tian: “Tu fais chier” (“you’re p**sing me off).
Romain Poite: “TU fais chier.”

However, the drama did not end there as after the game Tien made an attempt to try and get to Poite, which meant that the referee has to be escorted off the pitch by security as the 35-year-old was restrained.

UPDATE:

Unfortunately for the Ivorian, his actions have come with a hefty punishment, and he has been banned for 15 months for his mouthy outburst and post-match actions.

The suspension is one of the largest on record, and he will not be available to play again until June of next year while the club has confirmed that they will not be appealing the ban.
