Joe Schmidt and his troops are heading home after securing a win over Italy today in the opening match of our Six-Nations campaign. We ground out a victory by 26-3 which sees us top of the table after the first weekend of action.

The day didn’t start off too well with Sean O’Brien injuring his hamstring in the warm up and Tommy O’Donnell coming in as his replacement. The Munster man did a fine job and capped off a great day personally by scoring our second try after Conor Murray had initially cracked open the Italian defence when crossing the whitewash.

Ian Keatley also took his opportunity to shine as out-half, and with doubts over whether Jonny sexton will be fit to face France next week, the Munster man was one of our better performers on the day

All in all a decent day out but plenty to work on ahead of the clash with France next Saturday:
