VIDEO: Irish legends back Joe Schmidt’s men to reach World Cup final

High hopes

Patrick McCarry

We are days away from Ireland’s best chance of winning a Rugby World Cup.

Since the last time.

On Saturday (2:30pm), Joe Schmidt’s men will kick off their World Cup campaign against Canada.

The goal is to still be out there, playing to win, on October 31 in the World Cup final. Never have an Ireland team been better placed to achieve such a goal.

Former Ireland stars Shane Byrne, Reggie Corrigan, Paddy Wallace and Malcolm O’Kelly gave their predictions at a recent Irish Rugby Union Players Association event at MSL Motors Ballsbridge.

Encouragingly, for Irish fans at least, the legends fancy Ireland to go deep in the tournament.
