Three fitness boosts for Leinster and they are much, much needed

Concussions aplenty but the province hope three key players will successfully complete their return to play protocols.

Following their 33-6 Champions Cup shellacking by Wasps, Leinster supporters can take small comfort in today’s fitness update.

Leinster head coach Leo Cullen had this morning’s training session boosted by the return of three players – Ben Te’o (glute), Luke Fitzgerald (shoulder) and Rhys Ruddock (wrist).

Three further men – Sean O’Brien, Mike McCarthy and Richardt Strauss – all took part in light cardio sessions today as they undergo their RTP.

The trio were all removed from the field of play, during Leinster’s loss, with suspected concussions. It will be Friday before they know if O’Brien, McCarthy or Strauss will be cleared to play Bath.

Also doubtful are captain Isa Nacewa [knee] and Rob Kearney [hamstring].

If Cullen can get even two of those five men back, Leinster should be able mount a decent challenge at The Rec.
