Sean O’Brien has spoken out about that story of getting sick in a bin

You've got the wrong man.

It wasn’t me

We met Paddy Barnes on Monday as he was launching a partnership between Electric Ireland to announce its sponsorship of the Irish Olympic Team for Rio 2016.

Considering it was the day after Ireland’s exit from Rugby World Cup, we asked the twice Olympic bronze medallist if he had ever met up with any of Joe Schmidt’s side and the boxer spilled out a golden story about a run in that Sean O’Brien had with Michael Conlan. Allegedly.

Barnes explained that he was sparring with Dan Tuohy while Mick Conlan decided to take on Sean O’Brien.

Barnes was about to be hit by an uppercut from the Ulster player when their action was interrupted by the other two men knocking lumps out of each other. Allegedly.

“Mick Conlan and Sean O’Brien just flew between us boxing the head off each other and I’d say if I had got that uppercut(from Dan Tuohy) I’d be through the roof.”

“Thankfully they went past us and the next time I turned around Mick had battered O’Brien and Sean was getting sick in a bin.”

We were as surprised as anyone to  think that Conlan had stopped the Tullow Tank in his tracks, and we were awaiting a response from the man himself to the story.

And it seems that the Carlow native has cleared up the entire scenario this evening after getting in touch with the wise-cracking boxer,

The image of hooker Sean Cronin puking his ring up is still pretty interesting, but Sean O’Brien can at least once again go about his business with his dignity intact.

He’s gone for the Shaggy defence in this case
