It would spell the end of Dan Carter's time as the New Zealand No 10.
As you all know Johnny Sexton is quitting Paris for a return to Leinster next season. That leaves a vacancy at Racing Metro and it seems they have gone for possibly the only man who is an upgrade on the Irish No 10.
ESPN are reporting this morning that Racing Metro are 'closing in' on Dan Carter and a deal with the All Black legend could be announced next week.
Carter had been linked with the out-half role earlier this year but this is the clearest report yet that the deal is all but done.
The report goes on to say that Carter would join up after the Rugby World Cup, meaning the end of his illustrious All Black career due to their rule on not picking overseas players.
However, Carter would be 33 by the time the deal goes ahead so perhaps it would come at the natural end of his time in their No 10 shirt.
Carter has already had one spell in the Top 14, an injury curtailed five-game period with Perpignan in 2008-09.

Very fair from the Ireland boss. Scotland came to the Aviva Stadium with a Six Nations title on their minds, but these dreams were firmly put to down bed by an Ireland side who were on top from minute one to 80. Aside from the stellar displays from most of the players, another aspect of […]
Another top performance! Our Ireland player ratings as Andy Farrell’s men put in a six-try performance to defeat Scotland. Tom O’Toole – 8.5 The Ulsterman’s switch to loosehead looks to be paying real dividends with another great showing in the scrum, the highlight of which was an early penalty that led to Jamie Osborne’s try.
