Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few weeks, you’ll have probably heard the name ‘Salt Bae’ dropped into conversation at some point.
For the uninformed, ‘Salt Bae’ is the nickname that has been given to Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe, who has attracted a massive following on social media for the extravagant way in which he salts meat.
The video below, for example, has been viewed over 11 million times on Instagram.

Not only has ‘Salt Bae’ developed a huge social media following, he’s become something of a pop culture phenomenon, with numerous stars from the sporting world – Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck and Wales rugby star Jonathan Davies, for example – adopting his trademark pose when celebrating a significant moment on the field.
The famous chef came face to face with a man who knows a thing or two about delicate hands at the Laureus World Sports Awards on Tuesday evening, Ireland’s greatest ever rugby player, Brian O’Driscoll.
He even had the pose on point.

O’Driscoll was not the only one with the privilege of meeting the latest Internet sensation; he even added salt to a meal being enjoyed by US gymnastics superstar Simone Biles.

Some might say that Salt Bae is certainly enjoying being ‘flavour’ of the month while he can.*JOE goes to get coat*
